In related news why does anybody button a shirt all the way without a tie?
This freaked me out also. It's an odd one.

nice...however, "100 million books downloaded" really can be heavily biased.
1)how many were free books?
2)how many people are actually READING them?...in their entirety? Not iphone or ipod users...must be iPad...and pretty much everyone agrees that reading a 200+ page book on an iPad is very strainful on the eyes.

Ok...
Then, is there a program somewhere that while running would prevent the computer from going to sleep (rather than a standard configuration page)?

Um, unless I am misunderstanding something, you don't need a new graphics card to run a DVI display. Macs have had DVI as standard on their cards for a long time before the G5 came out.
Worst case you have a card with and ADC port and VGA port. In this case all you need is a cheap ($10-$20) ADC->DVI adapter.

1. Apple officially announces that Boot Camp will be part of Leopard.
2. VMWare announces their product for OS X.
3. Microsoft kills VPC for Mac as it becomes pointless and sort of redundant.
After all, if they can sell the regular version of Windows to intel Mac users, why bother wasting money on something other companies are doing (VMWare and Parallels).
You want Windows on your Mac, use Boot Camp/buy VMWare or Parallels and then buy Windows like everyone else. No extra R&D funds/time required to enter the "Mac market", which thanks to Boot Camp is "all intel Mac users".
It's a simple business decision.
Yeah, this joke has been around forever. It originally was used when Windows 95 first came out. It isn't technically valid for NT, 2000, XP, or Vista. Those are just 32-bit (or 64-bit) OSes by a 2 bit company. :-D
Well, how about "Windows Vista: a 64-bit OS that can almost emulate a 32 bit shell running on a 16 bit extension of an 8 bit OS designed for a 4 bit CPU, made by a 2 bit company that can't stand one bit of competition."? ;-)

I am interested in purchasing the iWork suite, in particular for Pages, however I have a query and would be very grateful if anybody could provide assistance. I know Pages supports the import and export of Word documents but am curious as to how well implemented this function is? Exporting accurate, error free word documents which may be viewed in perfect working order by users of Office for Mac and Windows would be a necessity and I'd like to know how well Pages does this job?
Thank you for your time.
My exports appear fine, but I have not tried exporting anything containing heavy formatting, images, etc, just standard multi-page essays with minimal frills.

I think that would be the way forward. I don't have time myself to implement it though

The 1TB and 750GB drives of that particular model are not industry "standard" SATA drives. That Micro-B connector is attached directly to the mainboard of the hard drive. Instead of having a SATA interface connected to a USB board, it just skipped the SATA interface. This saves cost for WD and means you cannot take this drive out of the enclosure and use it in your MBP.
Thank you for the straight forward answer google sent me in loops for hours :).
I suppose what I'm looking for are these 1tb wd scorpio or samsung spinpoint drives, anyone have any recommendations?

that idea however, has nothing to do with bluetooth enabling the hard drive. and I still wonder if using radio transmission might be a better alternative for such things (I have no idea). Maybe the remote would be coolas a bluetooth device.

CS5 has nothing to do with app development at all, so it's not important.
For graphics for your apps, there are dozens of other tools out there, you don't need CS5 unless you're a graphics designer and want to do graphics design.

I went to John Lewis' today to look at the Apple Cinema Displays (I've always thought I'd prefer a glossy display like my HP 22"), but I was suprised at how much more accurate the colour was on the ACD in comparison to the 24" iMac.
I couldn't tell which one had a nicer picture as they were both locked onto the Mac login screen but, after seeing them, I must admit, I like the Matte more than the glossy I think.

Well, let's say you are working on a Mac (bless you) and all your co-workers are using a PC. Suddenly, you have to work on the same documents (like a .doc, a .ppt or a .xls) Call it "incompatibility"...
I don't like MS but a lot of peoples (over 90%) still do...
Well, Pages can open and edit and save .doc files, and Keynote can do the same with .ppt files.
But formatting and the such can be an issue. NeoOffice/OpenOffice handles .doc and .ppt formatting better, from what I hear. I've never used OpenOffice extensively, so I wouldn't know.

The new Little Brother album is worth checking out...
MF Doom is a genius...
A Long Hot Summer was one of the best albums from last year no doubt...
Midnight Marauders is my third favourite album of all time (after Illmatic and The Infamous)

Hmm.. Just remember that, while the technologies Apple may use in a cell phone will not be new or novel in themselves, their execution and use will be.
There were MP3 players before the iPod, it was the execution of the technology, not th technology itself...

Nope, vniow, I can't load it in Opera, Firefox, Camino, IE6 or 7. Only Safari. On Windows I had to download the file and open it in GIMP.
EDIT: OK. Loading it with Quicktime's Picture Viewer on Windows works. Strange. :)
