i've had this lens for about 7 months now and while i think it's a great lens, how to get consistent focus with the AF is still a mystery to me. i generally shoot around 1.8 to 2.2 so i know the dof is pretty shallow and perhaps that is part of the reason, but when i shoot, i generally use the center point, focus on the eyes or some part of the face and then reposition. sometimes it comes out the way i want, as in this example (http://www.flickr.com/photos/70072717@N00/5555471847/in/pool-56354702@N00/), other times, the focus seems to be on something else (http://www.flickr.com/photos/70072717@N00/5556060766/), not where I had intended (the water gun is in focus but i wanted the face to be). any advice on what i need to change in my methodology? thanks.

The same thing is saying for my friend's iPod which is iOS 4.2.1, 3rd gen 32GB, and 26GB disk space left. Both were done on Windows. But did with redsn0w again and it is untethered with the greenpois0n boot logo still present.

Has there been any word on if you will be able to upgrade directly to the full released version from the preview builds?
Whats the best way to backup the entire SL install so that if I wanted to go back I could just reinstall it without having to reinstall all the apps?

The easiest way i found to do this is just create a background image on your id of "main" that has the color block and repeat-x. Especially if that side panel is going to continuously have varying content therefore sizes.

Totally depends on what software you want to run and expected number of users. Also does it have to be OSX?
Mac Pro isn't an ideal full time server since you are spending money on video card, Bluetooth, I/O ports, airport, etc.
I don't really agree with this. The costs for Bluetooth an Airport are insignificant, and if you're a small shop, you'll want a GPU in your server (just not a high end one.)
And less I/O ports for a server? Servers should have plenty of I/O ports, especially when you need to do diagnostics. Yeah, maybe the Mac Pro comes with a few too many USB ports, but that's not the worst problem to have.
No more rack mount is kind of a killjoy, but not every shop uses racks anyway.

I don't think anyone actually thought TiBooks/iBooks would be updated at Paris...
the only hints have been low powerbook supply reports (which are nonspecific), and a competely BS report about dual G5's via reader email at MacBidouille.

Thanks for the advice all. I am still thinking about it, but since the newer model is going to come out next year I may go with the newer one.
On the other hand, a good rule of thumb is never to buy a first generation of anything. In this case, a new design...so we will see.

This is all interesting news.
I may have to try folding on my Macbook C2D! I am not a big production output guy, and my G5 has been down and out of folding to save on power, and wear ;) .

OWC and OCZ are very very similar in regards to build and firmware
I am using an agility 2 in my 2008 macbook pro which I am typing on right now
I also upgraded to 8GB of memory
you can buy crucial, corsair, OCZ or OWC, any are fine
I use an OCZ in my PC as well
Whatever you do, make sure you update the firmware ASAP, before even installing into your mac
if you have a PC, that makes it super easy, just plug it in and update
if you don't, be sure to visit the SSD manufacturers website for the one you plan to buy, many of them require you to burn a disc and boot from the DVD drive (basically you running linux off a CD) and update it that way in your mac

Yes, I did. But I listed the item as "as-is" with no returns. Is there any way the buyer can get around this?
I wouldn't think so because he accepted the terms of the deal when he bid. It's a legal contract, but call eBay to find out for sure.
