Airplay, yes.
Home sharing streaming to the phone from iTunes, no. That needs 4.3.x.
Come on Apple, get a move on!!
That's what I want is the home sharing I have no use for airplay right now.

I know we'll know for sure real soon, but I was just wondering if there's any expectation one way or the other regarding how likely the ipad2 will be jailbreak-able, either with the current apps or with current known but unused exploits.
usually the Dev Team keeps quiet on exploits, but with 3 betas to work with I'm sure they're ready to go with iOS 4.3 jailbreak when it's released with the iPad 2 as expected. Don't see why Apple would make any hardware changes that would put the breaks on Jailbreaking. Unlocking is a totally different animal so we'll have to see....

I check Amazon every once in a while to see how Apple's hardware is selling, it's always cool to see their products at the top of the best selling list :)

I'd give it a 9. The only knock against it being the ability to get in and mod it easily. I come from the PC world where I built my own machines and constantly tweaked and upgraded them over time. I've had my current iMac for 4 years and just ordered another of the new ones. They are incredibly powerful for an all-in-one and it just works. As it turns out I didn't really need to do much modding except for RAM, which is easy. I've had absolutely no problems with my current iMac. Wife is getting that one and my 7 yr old is getting her MacMini.

I've gotten a g4 imac power supply off ebay before without any hassle but it could be a crapshoot. It seems like these guys sell imac parts- http://www.mac-pro.com/Mac-Pro-Online-Store/G4-iMac-Parts-and-Accessories

You know there's already a couple of threads discussing the features of Lion, why create another?
Because after a while all these threads become so big, it is difficult to keep track of what's going on. You don't have to read the thread if you don't want to.

really weird and frustrating, huh. 240 (just under $400) for 8gb in the UK from crucial, or anywhere else i've seen. 4GB is merely 1/2 that.
don't think you can get it any cheaper. and it's probably going to stay there. urgh.

Hi all,
I invested in a D5000 about a year and a half ago to begin a new hobby. I was hoping to get opinions on if it would be worth it to try to make photography more than a hobby for me. I prefer nature, but would be willing to go for events maybe...I don't want to do portraits.
I've inserted some of my work from a photo camp below. Any advice/criticism would be greatly appreciated :-).

Thanks again!
I'm a sucker for a good sunset shot, and I like the first here quit a bit. The colors and textures in the sky give it a good feel. It's a pity the sun is on the centerline, though. I tends to capture the eye because it is the brightest area of the photo. If it was a little off center I might like it even more.
The photo of the Cheetahs has a lot of potential. I like where they are placed in the frame, and the direction of their heads is a nice contrast to the flow of their bodies. Kind of moves right then left with their vision. I would like the colors of the grass to be a bit deeper. The exposure is a bit light for the shadows and that lets the sunlit area in the background go too bright.
The other two are nice vacation pics, but they don't stir me visually.

ha! i actually bought this cd off itunes a few months ago. could do with some more sequencing and layering. but what it is great for is sampling. i took one of the ink cartridge hitting the side of the caseing sounds and processed it into a kick drum. heres a rough mix.

Yeah, the PS3 browser is terribly shite.
The best software for streaming media to your PS3 is PS3MediaServer, which is free but Intel only. So unfortunately you can't really use your G5 as the media server. The PlayStation requires a uPnP server for streaming and if your MyBook jobbie is connecting and doing the trick, then you're halfway there. The best thing you can do is rip all your files to a format the PS3 likes with Handbake on your Mac and load it all up on the WD HDD.
We don't get Netflix in the UK, but LoveFilm has started a streaming video service which is about the closest we're ever going to get. We do however get shortcuts to BBC iPlayer, ITV Player and 4oD on the XMB.
Oh, and sign up for a PSN account. Download WipEout HD Fury and have a blast at that. You've got a decent machine with good games. The Blu-ray player is great, so we just need to get your media streaming sorted out.

I'd almost agree with you on this, but plastic MacBooks are incredibly flimsy machines.
My first apple laptop was a first gen macbook (plastic). It was pretty sturdy I thought. It scratched easily, but that's it. It survived a fair share of bumps and lumps. I got rid of it because I needed more screen...

Why wouldn't you use the same metrics you use for any other software?
How much CPU does the stuff you're serving require? How much disk space? How fast of disk?
I'm not sure why using a machine as a server makes some special case. Figure out what your server software needs.

touche.
I see where this si coming from though.
I think whats happening is Apple is expanding so quickly that its harder for them to keynote all the developments within apple.
Soon iPhone is going to be even bigger, and Mac will keep moving, growing, but not as fast as the iPhone.
Maybe one day well see seperate keynotes for each product/market line.
Either way Apple is going strong and the potential for iPhone (and Apple gadgets) and Mac OS X to move forward are huge.
No complaints here.
I just wish theyd say somethin about the bloody mac mini

Thanks, it works great on my iBook. I can't wait to install it on my friends Powermac digital audio. I have tried upgrading the Flash, and TenFourFox on her mac. I'm hoping this will work even better.
